| Machine Vision Lighting FAQ's
1.) Q: How can the light output be increased from the fiberoptic backlight?
A: There are many ways of increasing the light output. The most common method is to add layers to the fiberoptic panel. Maximum light output can be achieved by using lighting the panel from both ends of the fiberoptic backlight. Consult with your Sales Engineer for more information.
2.) Q: What is the maximum amount of layers that can be added to the fiberoptic panel?
A: 8 layers
3.) Q: Does the fiberoptic panels emit heat?
A: No, the panels are filtered at the light source
4.) Q: What is the widest size you can manufacture the fiberoptic panels?
A: 36”
5.) Q: What is the longest size you can manufacture the fiberoptic panels?
A: 65.0” to 70.0”
6.) Q: How long can you manufacture the fiberoptic cables?
A: No restrictions on cable length
7.) Q: Can the fiberoptic cables be jacketed for protection? If so, what cable covering materials can be included.
A: Yes, Lumitex can also include a PVC heat shrink tubing or a flexible braided sleeve material.
8.) Q: What is the attenuation of the fiber?
A: 1% for every 12.0” or 1 Ft.
9.) Q: How are the fiberoptic panels secured or bonded?
A: Special Adhesives can be added to the panel or can be designed for ruggedized housings (not provided by Lumitex).
10.) Q: What light sources are typically used with the fiberoptic panels.
A: High intensity LEDs or large halogen (special filtered) light sources can be used to illuminate the fiberoptic panels. |
