Lumitex designs and develops special lighting to help enable
minimally-invasive orthopedic surgery.
We designed one such product, the SOLIS® surgical illuminator,
for Smith & Nephew to provide shadowless, cool adaptable
light to help surgeons better visualize the hip cavity during
minimally invasive hip surgery. Attaching with adhesive
straps to any retractor, Solis illuminates the entire cavity,
helping surgeons minimize their incisions while maximizing
visibility.
The LightMat® can also be used in minimally-invasive
hip surgery. Attach it to the acetabular or other retractor
by using two sided adhesive or Steri-strips.
Either SOLIS® or the LightMat® help the surgeon:
- Visualize the acetabulum through a minimal incision
- Identify landmarks
- Assess tissue condition
- Help treat bleeders
