Fiber Optic Panels

When Your Product Requires The Thinnest Lighting

Get Started
Let's talk about your project

Use plastic optical fiber panels to create light where you need it and adding multiple layers can be used to enhance brightness while maintaining uniformity. The fiber optics allow a single light source to be placed remotely, with the option to use multiple sources for variable colors and intensities. Even a single layer of fiber optic panels can have excellent tactile feel for a membrane switch application. In addition, this technology is ideal for LCDs, panels, control consoles, PRNDLs, keyless entry, machine vision, man-machine interface, elastomeric keypads, courtesy lights, signs and point of purchase overlays.

Understanding How Fiber Optic Panels Work & When to Use It

Fiber optic lights utilize strands of glass or plastic light guide materials that transmit light from an illumination source (like an LED or bulb) with minimal loss over relatively long distances. The fibers can be modified to emit light in discrete locations through several techniques such as embossed light extraction features or by bending beyond a critical angle.

Uniform Lighting
Fiber optic backlighting spreads the light providing a uniform appearance.

Range of Colors
Standard LED colors include green, white, blue, red, amber and yellow-green. RGB LED’s can be used to effectively provide any desired color. Separate layers can be lit with different colors to allow the backlight color to be changed depending on the status or application.

Efficient Design
Minimal engineering charge with low-cost tooling. Fiber optic panels can be designed and built for prototyping quickly.

Long Life
LED light sources offer 10,000 to 100,000 hours of continuous operation. For projects that require a long life span, we've integrated fiber optic panels into applications that have been in use for over 20 years.

Fiber Optic Panel technologies are well suited for applications like the following:

  • Membrane Switches/Keypads
  • Badges
  • Accent Lighting
  • Automotive Lighting Interior/Exterior
  • LCDs
  • Military
  • Recreational
  • Surgical Retractor Lighting
  • Phototherapy
